The Coolah GRDC Grains Research Update at Coolah Sports Club on Monday 27th of February is a one-day seminar showcasing the latest research information relevant to grain growers in the region.Topics include:
- Dual purpose cereals and canola – economics, management and optimising performance. James Fleming (NSW DPI) & Joe Mason (Spicers Run)
- Feed mineral supplements when grazing cereals. Lindsay Bell (CSIRO)
- Livestock and compaction in cropping country. Chris Guppy (UNE)
- Grazing wheat and barley – impacts on stripe rust, crop canopy management, lodging and grain yield. Maurie Street (GOA) & Matt Gardner (NSW DPI)
- Desiccating grain sorghum – timing and economics for current and future crops. Guy McMullen (NSW DPI)
- Nitrogen volatilisation losses – how much or how little are we losing when we apply N in different formulations at different times in fallow or in-crop? Graeme Schwenke (NSW DPI)
- The carbon tax – what does it mean for grain and livestock producers? Mick Keogh (Australian Farm Institute)
- Carbon sequestration and farming systems – how much carbon can northern cropping and mixed farming systems store? Jeff Baldock (CSIRO)
Registration is 8:30am for a 9am start. Day will conclude by 3:10pm. Cost: $45 pp and $40 for second person per farm (Cheques payable to ICAN Pty. Ltd.). Lunch, morning tea and proceedings provided.
