Fair price review - IPART

The NSW Government has tasked the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) with determining a “fair and reasonable” value for household generated solar energy. The Government issued a terms of reference requesting IPART consider the following key parameters:

  • there should be no resulting increase in electricity prices in NSW;
  • a fair and reasonable value will not be funded from the NSW Government budget;
  • any price should be administratively simple and must take into account the
    impact on business operations of administering such pricing; and
  • a fair and reasonable price benchmark should operate in such a way as to support a competitive electricity market in NSW.

Further information and the draft report is available on IPART’s website [www.ipart.nsw.gov.au].

IPART is welcoming submissions on the draft report until 23 January 2012. IPART’s final report is scheduled to be released in April 2012.
