Network management plans

In accordance with the provisions of the Electricity Supply (Safety and Network Management) Regulation 2008 a network operator must, if notified in writing to do so by the Director-General of Industry & Investment NSW, lodge with the Director-General and implement a network management plan.

The network management plan is to contain the following chapters, where relevant to the particular network operator:

  1. chapter 1 dealing with network safety and reliability;
  2. chapter 2 dealing with customer installation safety;
  3. chapter 3 dealing with public electrical safety awareness;
  4. chapter 4 dealing with bush fire risk management.

A distribution network service provider must also comply with any licence requirements that have been imposed.

In developing and implementing the plan, a network operator must also take into account such codes, standards or guidelines notified by the Director-General of Industry & Investment NSW.

The licence conditions imposed on distribution network service providers are published on the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) website at: http://www.ipart.nsw.gov.au/electricity/licensing_further_information_4.asp

TransGrid, as a transmission network service provider, has been notified to take into account the Transmission Network Design and Reliability Standard for NSW (125kb PDF).
