Advisory councils

NSW Trade & Investment receives advice through a number of advisory councils. The councils are a key link between industry, the community and Government, and provide advice on policies, strategies and research to assist in promoting and encouraging growth in New South Wales.

NSW Multicultural Business Advisory Panel

The NSW Multicultural Business Advisory Panel (the Panel) advises the Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Stoner and Minister for Citizenship and Communities, Victor Dominello on measures to harness the State's cultural diversity, language skills and overseas links to build partnerships and drive business growth in NSW. Read the Terms of Reference.

The Panel considers matters that help leverage NSW's multicultural strengths and includes a focus on maximising people-to-people links and identifying opportunities to improve the way the NSW Government promotes living and working in, or visiting NSW.

Panel members have knowledge of cultural issues in relation to the broader business environment and have the ability to leverage their own multicultural heritage or maintain links into multicultural business networks. They will act as a conduit between the NSW Government and multicultural business communities.

NSW Export and Investment Advisory Panel

The NSW Export and Investment Advisory Panel advises the Premier and Deputy Premier in his capacity as Minister for Trade and Investment on measures to promote investment in NSW and to encourage growth in NSW business activity in overseas priority markets. Read the Terms of Reference.

Panel members are available to provide high level strategic advice to the NSW Government in its efforts to attract new business and build close trading and investor relationships particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. The work of the Panel will be strongly linked to the International Engagement Strategy which was released in 2013.

NSW Innovation and Productivity Council

Established in September 2007 under the Innovation Council Act 1996, the NSW Innovation and Productivity Council advises the NSW government on policies and strategies for innovation-led economic development and productivity in NSW.

A key aim is to support innovation in business, government, and the education and research sector in order to stimulate productivity for the broader NSW economy. The Council reports to the Deputy Premier in his capacity as the Minister for Trade and Investment.

The Council comprises industry, education and research leaders and the Secretary of NSW Trade & Investment is the Executive Member.

Regional Development Advisory Council

The Regional Development Advisory Council advises the NSW Minister for Regional Development on all regional development issues. It also recommends ways in which the Government and communities can work together to strengthen the capacity of communities to respond to local business issues.

The Council's membership brings together a group of experienced regional leaders with expertise in business, local government and community development. Read the Regional Development Advisory Council skills report [PDF File - 1.8 MB].
